Kolala Hard Soda
I am always inspired and empowered by my cultural heritage. One of the thoughts that sparked this project was Haiti's lack of representation in commercial products outside of their liquor line, Barbancourt. It's not well known beyond caribbean communities. Plus, those who know of it and aren't caribbean tend to be over 35. I decided to design a line of drinks that could appeal to younger, 'more hip' audiences - college age (21+ of course)! Targeting this consumer base would potentially help me achieve the goal of spreading awareness on Haiti's vibrant culture quickly and with style. Inspired by the infamously colorful "Tap Tap" buses of Haiti, the brand name, "Kolala," takes a positive spin on the common Haitian exclamation "kobaba!" It's a word usually shouted in shock. Bursting with flavor, a single sip of this hard soda will have you shouting "Kolala" instead! Bursting with flavor, a single sip of this hard soda will have you shouting "Kolala" instead!
